Survey of Dublin Water Quality

The European Commission, Directorate-General for Regional Policy, has launched an ex post evaluation of a selected number of investment projects – covering transport and environment infrastructure – implemented during the 1994-1999 programming period in Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal and Spain and co-fínanced by the European Regional Development Fund or the Cohesion Fund.

The overall purpose is to analyse the long term contribution of these projects to economic development as well as the quality of life and well-being of society. The Ringsend treatment plant and associated drainage infrastructure received significant EU funding and over the past 25 years there has been significant investment in sewage treatment facilities in the Dublin area. The European Commission have appointed DKM Economic consultants to evaluate these investments and the public perception of them. We have designed a short survey to assess to what extent any improvements in water quality in Dublin Bay are perceived by the users.
