Sunday 28th September the Hook SAC decide to try something a little bit different and invite potential new members to come to our club house, meet some members, have a chat about diving and go for a spin in the boat.
The event was the brainchild of Denny Lawlor, long time hook member and club house manager. Visitors arrived at 2pm and have a tour of the club house. This included the compressor room, changing rooms, boat house, archive and new lecture room. Then Denny gave a short lecture on diving and the history of the Hook SAC. There were also videos by Mike Orth shown to the guest. Ray Furlong then gave a brief talk on training and progressing through diver grades within CFT. There was then a quick question and answer session followed by tea, coffee, sandwiches and cakes for all visitors and club members. This gave everyone the opportunity to chat one on one and really get a feel for the club.
With the fabulous weather lasting into the afternoon, it was on to a boat trip around the light house. Guest were delighted with their afternoon. They each received a membership pack, membership form and CFT info.
Thanks to all those who worked so hard to make the event possible.
