Great News for Dublin Bay

Dec 22 2015 Posted by Office Administraton

The Environmental Protection Agency have decided that the proposed dumping in Dublin Bay, opposed by the IUC (CFT) will require a full Appropriate Assessment.  This is a complete study of the impacts of the dumping on the ecology of the area with particular reference to the EU protected sites (especially the Rockabill to Dalkey Island Special Area of Conservation, which is the protected area for harbour porpoise).  No dumping will be permitted until this has been done.

It’s not the end of the road yet, but a significant step in protection of Dublin Bay. Our sincere thanks to Dr Tim Butter our Scientific Officer, Peadar Farrell and all members who objected to this plan, your work and dedication has paid off.
