Dundalk Sub Aqua Club

North East Dive Rally

15th to 17th June 2018

Carlingford Lough, Greenore, Co. Louth

Dundalk Sub Aqua Club has been in existence since 2001 and currently has 45 members, including 9 trainee divers who started with us in October 2017.  We are very proud to be hosting our first Dive Rally in June and look forward to showcasing the wonderful dive sites we have in Carlingford Lough. There will be an opportunity on the weekend to dive sites including;

1.The Blockhouse (6m to 18m)- A shelf dive with many different species of life, sponges, sea squirts, anemones, fish life, lobster and conger eels. This dive is very dependent on tide times and can only be dived at slack water times, but well worth the wait!!

2.Number 9 Buoy (10m to 20m) This again is a shelf dive similar to the Blockhouse, although the life found on it is sometimes a little different but no less abundant.

3.The Connemara Wreck (sitting in approx. 7m) This is the remains of a wreck which collided with another ship, the SS Retriever during a storm and sank in 1916 with the loss of 97 lives, little of the ship is left but is still an interesting dive and an easy dive for all.

4.The SS Retriever Wreck (sitting in approx. 6m) 50 yards from the Connemara, and again is a simple dive with a small part of the ship visible, as with the other dives there is plenty of life in and around this wreck.

5.The Falavee Wreck. (sitting in approx. 10m) A steamer wrecked in 1942. Again covered in plenty of soft corals and keep an eye out for some of our local spotted catshark fish!

6.The Hebron Wreck (sitting in approx. 25m) Positioned just off Kilkeel this fishing vessel is fairly well intact and covered in life, a fantastic dive if the conditions are just right!

(all dives are weather permitting of course!!)
