Diving into Space too place on Sunday 13th November in the National Aquatic Center. This was the second of two such events and was another huge success.
The event kicked off with a talk by Ireland’s only Aquanaut Dr. Marc O’ Griofa who recently took part in NASA’s Extreme Environment Mission Operations programme (NEEMO) to the bottom of the sea. Marctook his audience on a whirlwind adventure through the science of weightlessness and how SCUBA diving is used to train astronauts. After the presentation, Ireland’s top SCUBA instructorsbrought over 50 people through the experience of weightlessness in the safety of a pool.
We would like to thank Marc for his wonderful talk, all of our instructors for their assistance and guidance and Aoibhinn Bird from Science Federation Ireland and our own DCU Sub Aqua Club for her organisational skills!
