Diving into Space

Have you ever dreamed of going into space or working in the space industry?

Ireland’s second annual Space Week will take place 4th – 10th October and as part of this, the Insight Centre for Data Analytics, the Irish Underwater Council (IUC) and Science Foundation Ireland are excited to announce Diving into Space, a unique event combining space, weightlessness and diving into a truly memorable experience.

The event will kick off with a chance to hear from Ireland’s only Aquanaut Dr. Marc O’ Griofa who recently took part in NASA’s Extreme Environment Mission Operations programme (NEEMO) to the bottom of the sea, where the crew evaluated tools and techniques being tested for future deep space exploration. Marc will take his audience on a whirlwind adventure through the science of weightlessness and how SCUBA diving is used to train astronauts. Following the event the IUC will be providing a chance for members of the public to experience weightlessness through Try A Dive.

The event is being run in Cork on 7th Oct. The talk is free of charge and the Try a dive is only €5 (Try Dive open to over 14’s, snorkelling available to under 14’s). To book your tickets click on the link below.
