The Dive Snow I mean Dive Show must go on! And so it did.

Congratulation to Aughinish and Limerick Sub Aqua clubs who worked together to organise and deliver another successful Dive Ireland International Expo. with the weather against them from the start the clubs worked hard to promote that the event was still going ahead and with their infectious optimism, hard work and committment it surely did.

With traders coming on boats, planes, trains and cars the trading hall was soon full of fantastic offers and info stands to empty the pockets and fill the heads of eager divers and other interested members of the public. The talks began bright and early on the Saturdaymorning with us being treated to the ins and outs of cave diving, deep sea exploration, a rebreathing experience and WW1’s greatest sea battle. The DO/TO Meeting took place where issues that clubs are facing was talked about in detail and then we entered the Deep Atlantic, took to the air with Helicopter S&R and came face to face with Jellyfish, the Marine Ambassadors.

On the Sunday the numbers really picked up and the Irish Underwater Council AGM was well attended. Thank you to all the clubs who sent along delegates! Many of us learnt a few new things at Andrew Ryans Custom Drug Watch talk and Barry McGills explorations in the North Atlantic. The Environment was the order of the day with talks on Marine Identification, Plastic Pollution and the great work of the Whale and Dolphin Group.

We are also thankful for all the PADI divers who attended the PADI Instructor Forums run throughout the weekend. It was a great opportunity to work together to cover all aspects of diving and underwater exploration and we hope to see you back again in the years to come.

Again we think that Aughinish and Limerick Sub Aqua Club deserve a huge round of applause for all their fantastic work, commitment and enthusiasm in getting the Dive Show 2018 off the ground, it was a great success and we hope to see the Dive Show return to Limerick in the future.

Thanks to Diarmuid O’Donovan for all the wonderful pictures taken throughout the weekend!
