Call for Volunteers – Diving into Space 2017

Sep 28 2017 Posted by Office Administraton

You may have seen the note above regarding the “Diving Into Space ” event on Saturday Oct 7th day in Cork Institute of Technology. On Saturday at 1:30pm Ireland’s only Aquanaut Dr. Marc O’ Griofa who recently took part in NASA’s Extreme Environment Mission Operations programme (NEEMO) to the bottom of the sea, will take his audience on a whirlwind adventure through the science of weightlessness and how SCUBA diving is used to train astronauts. It should be a really interesting talk, its free of charge and open to all.

Following the event the IUC will be providing a chance for members of the public to experience weightlessness through Try A Dive/ Try A Snorkel in Leisure World beside CIT. We are looking for people to help us run this event. We will have the pool set out with a number of different “underwater space challenges”. It should be lots of fun and a great way to promote snorkeling & diving

We really need volunteers to help us run the event. If you could spare a few hours on Saturday we would love to have you along. We need dive Instructors, Snorkel Instructors, Rescue or experienced club divers and people to help on the bank (no qualification needed).

If you can come please let Aoibhéann know on aoibheann.bird@insight-centre.org.
