That time of year again. all those hours of arduous training and snorkeling around the bay are now finally going to stand to benefit. The Paddys Day Snorkel in aid of the RNLI will kick off at 9:00 am on the 17th of March from Coliemore Harbour.
The RNLI lifeboats are a voluntary organisation that depend on the generosity of the public, in 2011 they received almost 1,000 calls for help, of which there were 905 people rescued over the course of the year in Ireland and over a third of the callouts were carried out in darkness.
In acknowledgement of the hard work of the volunteer lifeboat crews do, Marlin SAC have organised a raffle with some great prizes. Raffle tickets are available through Marlin SAC and also at the Dive Ireland Show on the 3rd and 4th of March. Tickets cost €5 but we have some great prizes to entice you all:
On Paddys Day the registration will take place from 9am at Coliemore Harbour, Dalkey and the first snorkelers will be in the water by 9:30. There will be tea, coffee, soup, sambos & Mars bars for those who successfully swim around the island or a quick boat ride, O2 & optional defibrillator for the more adventurous among us..Prize givings will take place in the Dun Laoighaire Motor Yacht Club once the snorkel is finished where the Anne Burrows trophy plus many great raffle prizes will be awarded.
