Kilkee Sub Aqua club was founded in 1982 to promote scuba diving in the West Clare area. The club has 30 plus members and is affiliated to Diving Ireland and CMAS.

The club engages in specialist training courses with other clubs, provides a platform for dive outings for members and visiting divers during the season and also operates its own Search & Recovery unit, assisting the other emergency sevices when required and working with other clubs in the region when people are missing at sea. The club operates on a voluntary non-profit-making basis. The club has its own clubhouse, based in Kikee, and a ribcraft 6.8 rigid inflatable boat (RIB).
