Sheephaven divers had a full weekend of diving last weekend, starting on Saturday with a dive at Pat Mc Gees. The dive party put out from Downings slipway and crossed the bay to conduct a one stick dive to 21 metres. While diving conditions were not great the trip was turned into magic with the presence of a pod of over 20 Dolphins who kept the dive party entertained at Pat Mc Gees. Sunday morning’s trainee dive was a two boat affair to Pan Rock out from Mevagh slipway. The dives were conducted in one stick due to the presence of dry coxswains at the helm of dive boats Bríd and Deirdre. The most notable marine life observed was Dogfish and some fine examples of Thornback Rays.
Thanks to Kevin Boylan who led on both Saturday and Sunday and other club members who towed and fuelled the boats, while others filled dive bottles in anticipation of the Sunday dive next weekend.
Sheephaven SAC is now currently taking applications for new members, both those who have no previous diving experience but also from lapsed divers who want to get back into diving.
