Hook Clean Up

May 22 2014 Posted by Office Administraton

It was a beautiful Sunday morning and the Hook Sub Aqua Club, joined by family and friend’s, were up bright and early to help clean up around Slade Harbour and Hook Light House. Each year the members of the Hook Sub Aqua Club participate in An Taisces, National Spring Clean. This is Ireland’s biggest anti-litter event and takes place each spring around Ireland encouraging local communities to pick up litter in their area. There was a great turn out. The group split up with some going to Slade Harbour to collect litter, others headed to the Lighthouse to remove any rubbish that had been washed up in recent storms, while others walked the roads collecting litter from the ditches. A large amount of litter was collected, including bottles, papers, lino, cans, even welly boots! Thanks to all those who so generously gave up their Sunday morning to give something back to a beautiful area that has given us so much!
