Athlone Sac

Athlone Sub Aqua club, founded in 1971 and is a registered member of Diving Ireland which is in-turn an affiliate member of CMAS (Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques ) cmas.org/ , an international umbrella organisation for recreational diver training organisations similar to PADI.

Athlone Sub-Aqua Club purpose is to train members to partake in scuba diving e.g. SCUBA (Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus) and snorkelling. As well as other skills required for these sports such as Boat Handling, Leaders, Instructors, Rescue divers, Diver First Aid and CPR. All of this training takes place with the help of members of the club and other Sub-Aqua clubs around the midlands all free of charge.

In addition, Athlone Sub-Aqua Club provides the following services to the local community:

Water safety cover service for various water sports and public events such as Tri-Athlone, Athlone Boat Club regattas etc.

Search and recovery service for water related accidents and emergencies.

These services which are provided on a voluntary basis and requires members to undergo extensive training and the club to invest in a wide range of specialist equipment.
